Our Practitioners use a medical-grade, FDA approved, state-of-the-art precision tool that works by creating a series of microscopic channels into the skin to stimulate production of new collagen and elastin. Collagen production can help reduce the visible appearance of scars and improves the health and strength of the surrounding skin.
By adding platelet-rich plasma (PRP) to this process, the rejuvenating effects of microneedling can be enhanced. PRP, which is obtained from the patient’s own blood, is rich in growth factors that promote vascularization and the production of collagen and elastin. PRP can be added topically or by injection to boost the effects of microneedling and promote healing after the procedure.
Our objective with microneedling with PRP is to improve the texture and tone of the skin and achieve a smoother, tighter appearance.
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
SkinPen® by Crown Aesthetics is the first microneedling device cleared by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, clinically proven to safely and effectively treat facial acne scars for ages 22 and up. SkinPen creates controlled micro-punctures to stimulate the body’s natural wound-healing process, while minimizing cellular damage.
The result is effective remodeling of scar tissue, while keeping the overall structure of the skin intact. SkinPen is also effective at reducing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, large pores, and stretch marks. The SkinPen has also recently been approved by the FDA for the treatment of wrinkles on the neck, which allows us to serve many new patients during a time when “tech neck” and “zoom boom” have become a troubling side effect from hours spent on the phone and computer.
After thoroughly evaluating your skin and explaining the treatment to you, your aesthetician will begin by using a topical anesthetic on the treatment area to avoid discomfort. Then, using the SkinPen, the aesthetician will make a series of small pricks under the skin. These are typically not visible after treatment.
The pricks put your body’s defenses into action, stimulating the production of collagen and other healing compounds, which, in turn, smooth the skin and add volume, producing a fresher, younger look.
After this part of the treatment, a soothing serum (which also boosts healing) will be applied. You may experience some redness afterwards, but this will dissipate soon.
In the days after microneedling, you’ll notice that your skin is smoother and more uniform, with fewer fine lines and more freshness. Scarring, age spots, large pores, and other imperfections will also be diminished.
Four treatments with SkinPen are recommended for best results. Some patients may require more based on the severity of their condition. We’ll go over all those details during your consultation.
Schedule an appointment for an evaluation. We’ll cover the microneedling treatment in detail, and you can decide if it’s the right treatment for you.
Plasma therapy uses the patient’s blood.
Platelet-rich plasma therapy is for people who are in good health and do not have any serious skin conditions. The people who tend to see the most benefit with this treatment are those with aging, crepey skin.
A small amount of your blood is drawn and is then placed in a centrifuge and spun to separate the platelets and plasma from the other components of the blood. The platelets contain several growth factors that can help stimulate cell growth, collagen and tissue regeneration. After the plasma and platelets are separated from the rest of the blood, they are injected into areas where you want to have more youthful skin.
Platelet-rich plasma therapy has been introduced as a new non-surgical treatment for alopecia, or hair loss, for both men and women. The PRP is injected into the patient’s scalp, helping to stimulate the hair follicle to aid in hair regrowth without pain. Talk to your dermatologist to see if PRP therapy would be a good option to treat your hair thinning or hair loss.
The combination of micro needling and Botox is sometimes called the Botox Facial. Because these two products use needles and treat signs of aging, it’s easy to see why this pairing was developed.
The idea is that microneedling can nourish the surface of your skin and strengthen its lower layers, while Botox stops the signs of aging and improves the results for the long term. Generally, the combo treatment would work like this:
- The skin is cleansed and a topical, numbing anesthetic is applied 30 minutes prior to the treatments.
- The microneedling device is gently moved across the treatment area to create tiny injuries.
- Botox is applied to the area over the micro-channels opened by the needles.
Unlike a traditional Botox injection, this procedure focuses on the surface of the skin rather than going deeper to reach the muscles. Aside from fixing the lines and crinkles, Botox can also manage the pores and oil production. Because the substance prevents muscles from contracting, you sweat less and produce less sebum. This helps your skin look smooth, clear, and poreless.
By itself, micro needling is incredibly powerful and versatile. When used in conjunction with Botox injections, the anti-aging effects are compounded on different areas of the skin. If your anti-aging regimen isn’t delivering the results you want, then maybe it’s time to give this combo a try. Here are some benefits you can expect to enjoy:
- Visible results after a few days
- Shortened healing time for both procedures
- Decreased pore size and sebum production
- Improvement of redness or flushing
- Tightened skin and fewer wrinkles
- Zero downtime and little effect on your daily routine
- Resolves existing damage or injuries
- Reduced risk of infection, bruising, or discoloration from other procedures
When you look in the mirror, are words like “vibrant” and “radiant” the first ones that come to mind when describing your appearance? Many people would see their skin as dull, dry, or uneven. Most have small imperfections in skin tone and texture or clogged pores that they would like to improve. Fortunately, an innovative treatment from Mash MD can promote healthy, glowing skin with little to no downtime.DiamondGlow® is a non-invasive cosmetic treatment that features the unique 3x1TM Technology that removes dead cells to stimulate skin renewal, deeply cleanses and clears debris from pores, and infuses the skin with nourishing SkinMedica® active ingredients. Whether your skin is thin or coarse in texture, the microdermabrasion treatment is adjusted to your needs. Another customizable feature is the SkinMedica® Pro-Infusion Serum. Your provider will choose from different serums that are specifically designed to revitalize, brighten, hydrate, boost antioxidant protection, and clarify pores. This treatment refreshes and nourishes the skin to reveal the more clear, vibrant, smoother skin below. Most people notice benefits immediately after treatment, which continue to improve over the following days. DiamondGlow® treatment is only available in offices with dermatologists and other medical professionals. It isn’t available as a spa treatment, though it may leave you feeling soothed and relaxed like you just took a trip to your favorite day spa.
Because DiamondGlow® is a fast, effective, and noninvasive cosmetic dermatology treatment option, it’s an ideal skin-enhancing solution for many patients.
DiamondGlow® is great for people who wish to diminish the appearance of any of the following:
- Fine lines
- Sun damage
- Dull, dry skin
- Hyperpigmentation, including pigment from healed acne
- Congested skin, clogged pores
Because DiamondGlow® treatments are highly customizable, they are typically safe and effective even for those people who have sensitive skin. Patients with active skin conditions such as eczema, rosacea, psoriasis, and inflamed acne should consult with their dermatologist before receiving DiamondGlow® treatment.
The innovative DiamondGlow® procedure is usually completed in 30 minutes. The key to the success of DiamondGlow treatment is the unique 3X1™ Technology and the award-winning SkinMedica® skincare product line.
The 3 rapid-sequence steps in the 3X1™ Technology are:
- The patented recessed diamond tip wand exfoliates, removing dead cells and stimulating skin renewal;
- The flow of fluid and adjustable suction deeply cleanses and removes debris from pores; and
- While the skin and pores are most receptive, the nourishing SkinMedica® active ingredients are infused into the skin.
During the exfoliation stage, your dermatologist and trained staff are able to choose from a range of diamond tips or a pore-clarifying brush. Each of the available DiamondGlow® diamond tips was designed to target specific problems; by customizing the choice of tip and intensity of the procedure, your provider ensures that you benefit fully from each treatment.

Following the procedure, patients can apply skincare (sunscreen, makeup) and return to their regular routine. There may be some minor irritation or redness, but for most patients, the skin looks immediately smoother, healthier, and more radiant. In addition to the in-office SkinMedica® infusion, patients can also continue to achieve skin improvement by incorporating SkinMedica® products into their daily skincare routine. Your dermatologist can help you select the right SkinMedica® products as well as other products tailored to your needs to optimize the health and appearance of your skin. Many SkinMedica® products are available for purchase from our sister site, Derm Skincare.
In most cases, patients have no noticeable side effects following DiamondGlow® treatment. Some individuals may notice very mild symptoms like light skin redness for the first hour or so after their procedure (rarely longer); most often, people notice that their skin looks better almost immediately after their DiamondGlow® treatments; in fact, some patients schedule a DiamondGlow® treatment before special occasions.
Because of the in-depth research that has gone into formulating the special SkinMedica® serums, the risk of irritation and allergy is low; notably, the serums are free of sulfates/sulfites, parabens, and fragrances. However, if you do notice side effects like swelling, itching, persistent redness, or severe irritation, you may be experiencing an allergic reaction. You should talk to your dermatologist right away.
A single DiamondGlow® treatment offers immediate results that continue to improve for several days after treatment. The results of DiamondGlow® treatment are cumulative, so it’s helpful to continue regular treatments to optimize the results. Depending on the individual’s needs, re-treatment can be performed once or twice a month. Regular re-treatment, especially when coupled with customized skincare products as part of at-home care, helps skin to look and feel clear and radiant, vibrant and glowing.
Microdermabrasion is a treatment that can help improve the appearance of facial skin. It is used for reducing wrinkles and treating a variety of conditions including acne, scars, warts, enlarged glands on the nose and more.
Microdermabrasion is considered an effective treatment for all skin pigments, and it is good for a wide range of ages as well. It is very effective for patients in the early stages of aging, but it has also been effective in treating teens. People with sun damaged skin, age spots, small scars, surface acne and enlarged pores all are good candidates.
Your provider will use a device against your skin that creates a gentle abrasion and vacuum-like device to remove dead skin cells. The skin is exfoliated and buffed, which improves the texture and appearance along with creating better circulation and lymph flow.
It may require multiple treatments to achieve your desired results, and it’s important to follow whatever skincare regimen and follow-up maintenance treatments recommended for you.
Microdermabrasion is considered an extremely safe procedure, so there are very few side effects and they are minor. Some of the side effects can include temporary skin sensitivity and inflammation.
Lash lift & tint is the best way to wake up feeling beautiful! This treatment perms your eyelashes up and colors them black, giving the appearance of mascara. Results lasts up to 6 weeks.
Chemical peels can be very effective for smoothing lines and removing skin imperfections. They can provide significant improvement without the downtime of a surgical procedure.
In a peel treatment, a chemical solution is applied to the skin to penetrate the top layers and allow dead and dull skin to be removed.
Medium depth chemical peels address a range of skin concerns including: Hyperpigmentation, fine lines, wrinkles, as well as acne. After treatment a proper self care routine is required. Before treatment, a consultation is required.
During your initial appointment, our licensed aesthetician will evaluate your skin to see if you’re a candidate for a peel, and then discuss with you what to expect from the treatment. Once you’ve decided that a peel is the right course of action, we’ll work with you to create a personalized treatment plan.
The treatment typically takes about one hour. Many people schedule them during lunchtime or at the end of the day. A customized chemical solution, tailored to your skin, is applied to the face. Typically, there is little to no discomfort. The peel solution works its way into the skin, and after a set amount of time, is removed. To soothe the skin and to promote healing, a serum specially selected for your skin is applied. Compounds in the serum also stimulate the production of collagen, to give you fresher, more youthful looking skin.
Immediately after the treatment, you’ll have some redness and minor swelling, but these will go away in a day or so.
Peels may be done in combinations with other treatments like dermaplaning to enhance results.
After the initial redness subsides, you’ll see smoother, fresher, clearer skin, which can boost your confidence and energy. Peels may need to be repeated periodically to maintain results.
As part of aftercare, you’ll have a personalized plan that will help with healing and can enhance your results when followed properly.
Dermaplaning is a safe and effective physical exfoliation procedure that triggers cell regeneration and allows products to better penetrate the skin. Dermaplaning is considered excellent for ridding the face of excess fine hairs which can often accumulate dirt and oil.
Dermaplaning is an amazing option to improve conditions including:
- Dull skin
- Dry skin
- Fine lines
- Acne scars
- Sun damage
Dermaplaning is a great way to brighten up your look and improve those unwanted skin imperfections. Our licensed aestheticians will help you decide if this treatment option is right for your specific needs and will recommend the frequency for scheduling future visits to maximize your treatment benefit
Using a sterile, surgical scalpel, your doctor will gently “shave” the surface of your skin to remove the top layer of dead skin cells and any fine surface hair. The procedure can be performed as often as once a month and there is no downtime.
You’ll notice improvements in your skin almost immediately, with full results in a day or two. Results usually last three to four weeks, and then the treatment can be repeated.
