Tkin toners can do a number of things. But the confusion about toners stems from the fact that the term "toner" can be used to refer to  traditional toners, astringents and fresheners.

    • Traditional toners consist of moisturizers, oils and extracts that help soothe your skin.
    • Astringents, which are generally alcohol-based, tighten the skin and pores and remove oil.
    • Fresheners work similarly to astringents by tightening the skin, but they are made of ingredients like caffeine and green tea instead of alcohol.

Because all of these different products are usually called toners, it's easy to see why toners are so misunderstood. We also get many questions about when and why to use a toner.

Our consultant can help you choose the right toner for your skin, and recommend the use of a toner (or toners---you may need more than one), to achieve the result you desire.
10%-2% MJM Glycolic Treatment Pads
Toners
Salicylic acid USP and Glycolic acid are used in combination with hydrating ingredients in these easy-to-use pads to promote exfoliation, control oil, reduce breakouts and clogged pores. They help enhance skin clarity and are pH balanced.

Gly-Sal 10-2 contains 10% ultra-pure glycolic acid with the proven keratolytic ingredient 2% salicylic acid. It also contains witch hazel to help deliver skin toning and astringent benefits. Patented pad applicator is convenient and simple to use. You see and feel the toning and cleaning results on your skin. Additional ingredients include: Purified Water, Glycolic Acid, SD Alcohol (13& v/v), Witch Hazel, Ammonium Hydroxide, Polysorbate-20, Disodium EDTA, Sodium Benzoate, Acetone, Imidazolidinyl Urea.

Dr. Mash recommends the following: Wipe the entire affected area with a moist pad one to three times a day. If excessive drying of the skin occurs, start with one application a day, then gradually increase to two or three times a day if needed or as directed by a physician. If extreme dryness or peeling occurs, Reduce application to once a day or every other day.

Glycolic acid has become a forerunner in the fight against wrinkles, and has been going strong since its introduction to the skin care market more than ten years ago. And with good reason. This powerful acid, derived from sugar cane, loosens up the glue that holds dead skin cells together. The effect is to exfoliate those cells, leaving smoother, younger skin in its stead. The depth of wrinkles is diminished, noticeably, and darkly pigmented areas become lightened. There is some evidence that this alpha hydroxy acid also functions as an antioxidant, meaning it protects skin from future aging.

Another positive feature of glycolic acid is that by removing dead skin cells, it helps to unblock pores. For those who have oily skin, this usually translates into fewer breakouts, a welcomed bonus.

The tricky thing about glycolics is that it is hard to tell how strong a formula is. Some companies aren't straight about the percentages, and tiny amounts of glycolic won't give you results you can see.
